Our process

Twelve steps, in the same order, every time.

A complicated technology project should still feel organized. This is how we run one — from the first conversation to the service call three years later.

01

Discovery

We ask how the space is actually used, what you dislike about the current system, and what has to be expandable later. Equipment comes after that.

Priorities · Constraints · Schedule · Stakeholders

02

Site assessment

We document existing conditions: the ISP handoff, rack locations, power, existing cabling, coverage, door hardware, device inventory and the cloud environment.

Photos · Notes · Existing inventory

03

Design

Architecture before shopping list. Topology, capacity, coverage, pathways, power, segmentation, storage, control strategy and the user experience.

Topology · Coverage · Power · Expansion

04

Proposal and scope

What we provide, key equipment, installation scope, programming, assumptions, exclusions, dependencies, recurring fees and what you are responsible for.

Scope · Assumptions · Exclusions · Pricing

05

Preconstruction

Drawings confirmed, equipment locations verified, electrical and conduit coordinated, blocking and door hardware confirmed, lead times checked, trade boundaries resolved.

Coordination · Lead times · Trade boundaries

06

Rough-in

Low-voltage cabling, pathways, backboxes, service loops, rack feeds and spare capacity for later. Labeled during rough-in, not from memory afterward.

Cat6A · Fiber · Conduit · Labeled

07

Trim and infrastructure

Racks, patch panels, keystones, wall plates, cable management, camera mounts, speaker hardware, network equipment and power protection.

Racks · Patch panels · UPS

08

Equipment installation

Access points, cameras, readers, controllers, displays, speakers, amplifiers, DSP, keypads, dimmers, smart-home devices and workstations.

Devices · Mounting · Terminations

09

Configuration and programming

Network and VLANs, Wi-Fi, firewall rules, remote access, cameras, access permissions, DSP and audio routing, control interfaces, lighting scenes, endpoints and cloud.

Billable professional work, not a free add-on

10

Commissioning

We test the system as a system: every link, Wi-Fi coverage, camera retention, egress behavior, audio zones and levels, scenes, backups, monitoring and alerting.

Verified · Documented · Signed off

11

Training and handoff

We teach the twenty percent of the system you need eighty percent of the time, plus app access, user roles and how to reach us.

Workflows · Roles · Escalation path

12

Support

Punch list closed, monitoring live, documentation current, remote support available, and improvements suggested only when they earn their cost.

Monitoring · Remote support · Documentation

On proposals

You should be able to answer six questions before you sign anything.

What am I getting? Why is it recommended? What does Timberline handle? What does someone else handle? What does it cost? Are there recurring fees?

Tell us what you are trying to accomplish.

New build, remodel, a business that has outgrown its network, or a system someone else left behind. Start with a conversation — we will tell you plainly what we would do.
